The color this morning was amazing. I had the opportunity to witness the sunrise from a ridge in Rensselaer County. I captured this image with my iPhone as an HDR composite of three images. I probably pushed the phone a little far past it's capability, but I really like the image. While I had all my cameras with me, having the ability to take an image like this with my phone is priceless.

At the "office" on a Monday morning. Lately, what I've come to realize about my work is that I take solitude and store it on SD cards. I cherish the early mornings and late evenings. [Above] Shot this self portrait tonight at the north end of Long Pond in Grafton Lakes State Park. This afternoon was warm, the sky clear, and the lake was deserted. I drove my car down to the shore to watch the sunset with John Butler on the CD player. Snow from last week's storm still lined the edges of the water. The color of the season is quickly fading and I am glad to get another change to shoot foliage.

I didn't take these photos. A friend, a local musician (and damned good one), saw this scene at a garage sale and asked the woman selling the chairs to take a few photos of him playing his guitar. Sometimes found scenes have way more validity than something planned, lit, and staged. And while I didn't create the images, I applied the sepia tone and weathered effects to add more authenticity to the finished product. All effects were applied with iOS iPad apps.

The involvement of the UCI and the world media make this race a grand spectacle. Speaking with race organizers yesterday, this may be the last year the UCI is hosted at Windham. I hope that isn't so, but I couldn't help looking around yesterday and wondering if this summer would be the race's last.

I have had this concept in my head for a some time now. I always say "Riding is Rebellion" as I pass cars as they are stalled in traffic. Anyone who has ever carved a turn on a road bike, bombed downhill real estate on a full suspension rig, or even just tooled around the neighborhood on a beach cruiser, has tapped into that unique feeling only a bike can produce. Riding is rebellion.

Over the next few months, I plan on rolling out a line of t-shirts, hoodies, and stickers with the RIR logo.

Yesterday was an active weather day in the Keene Valley. As we climbed the exposed sections of Giant and Rocky Peak Ridge, separate weather cells could be seen moving through the valley below. I love being in the mountains in fog. The image of my friends Brent and John sitting on the summit ridge while looking off into the fog describes the feeling. The moisture in the air absorbs all sound and gives the impression of being afloat in some vast sea. Yesterday was everything I love about the mountains.
