Everyone who drives into Lake Placid from the Northway passes this barn. I would bet 1 out of every 4 people take a photo. This is an overcooked black and white HDR. I overcooked it to show the texture in the sky and the sun burning through the clouds. This is an 8 image composite of images dark to light to achieve the tonal range.

I have seen Mike Doughty too many times to count. In the 90's, I was slightly obsessed with the band Soul Coughing. While most people know them as a one hit wonder, the lyrical content and complex arrangement they served up in their heyday was something that spoke to me. A decade later, I still love the music. Mike's solo stuff is even better. Last night was a great combination of readings from his new book, The Book of Drugs, a broad assortment of his solo music, and a Q&A about his time with Soul Coughing. It was the best I have ever seen him.

The color this morning was amazing. I had the opportunity to witness the sunrise from a ridge in Rensselaer County. I captured this image with my iPhone as an HDR composite of three images. I probably pushed the phone a little far past it's capability, but I really like the image. While I had all my cameras with me, having the ability to take an image like this with my phone is priceless.

Monday Morning

At the "office" on a Monday morning. Lately, what I've come to realize about my work is that I take solitude and store it on SD cards. I cherish the early mornings and late evenings. Very few people get to see that part of the day. At the end of the year, all these golden hours can't amount to more than a few hours, but they are the most memorable hours of my year.
